Swabi: A five-day training workshop on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare and research concluded at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences & Technology (GIKI).

In this first-of-its-kind workshop, 55 participants, including executives from GKMC, administrative officers, IT professionals, consultants, and postgraduate and undergraduate trainees actively participated.

The program followed a modular format, providing participants with hands-on experience in the application of AI in the medical field, including imaging, diagnostics, and software development. The training aimed to enhance healthcare services for the public.

All participants were awarded course completion certificates during the closing ceremony held at GIKI.

Dean/CEO Prof. Dr. Shams-Ur-Rehman, Hospital Director Dr. Khalid Masud, and other consultants appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of such collaborative efforts between GKMC and GIKI.

The Rector of GIKI, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, SI, assured full support and emphasized strengthening the liaison between the two institutions. He also appreciated the active participation of the consultants throughout the training.

Following this collaboration, Dean/CEO Prof. Dr. Shams-Ur-Rehman and Rector GIKI, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, SI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions to establish a strong and sustainable training partnership for the future, under which joint research, training, and workshops will be conducted.

This prospective partnership presents a valuable opportunity to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly at the interface of engineering and healthcare. It is envisaged that such an engagement will facilitate joint research initiatives, innovation in medical technologies, capacity building, and academic exchange programs, thereby enhancing institutional growth and improving patient care outcomes.

The Dean/CEO also assured GIKI management that GKMC will provide Basic Life Support (BLS) training to GIKI faculty and students.
